Ocean Explorer: Stranded Luxury Cruise in Greenland's Remote Wilderness

A luxury cruise ship named Ocean Explorer with 206 people on board got stuck in a remote Greenland location after running aground this week

The ship ran aground in Alpefjord, located above the Arctic Circle in the Northeast Greenland National Park, known for its vast ice-covered areas.

The crew of the Ocean Explorer attempted twice to free the ship during high tide but was unsuccessful.

The Danish military's Joint Arctic Command (JAC) confirmed that the tide did not lift the ship enough to free it,

Armed forces personnel in Greenland inspected the stranded ship and found that those on board were in good condition.

The Danish navy's Knud Rasmussen patrol vessel was expected to arrive at the site on Friday to assist in the rescue.

Passengers and crew members on the Ocean Explorer were reported as safe, and there was no immediate danger to them or the environment.
